Self-introduction

Hello, I’m Ye-jin from Korea. I majored in Japanese in university.
Currently, I’m working in Korea, but in the future, I hope to change jobs and work in a position where I can use Japanese.
These days, many Japanese tourists are visiting Korea, so jobs that require Japanese are also increasing.

The reason I started learning Japanese

I studied Japanese during my university days, but after graduation, I had no opportunity to use it and gradually forgot most of what I had learned.
When the COVID pandemic hit and I suddenly had more free time, I thought, “This is a good chance to study properly again,” and decided to restart.
At first, I was shocked at how much I had forgotten, but little by little, it started coming back. Now, I feel I’ve improved even more than when I was in university.

The reason I chose Enuncia’s online lessons

At first, I started studying on my own, but I soon felt that self-study had its limits.
To dive deeper into the things I couldn’t fully understand back in university, where I took large-group classes, I chose one-on-one lessons instead.
Being able to learn at my own pace was really appealing, and I felt that I could understand the material more deeply that way.

Lesson content

I wanted to properly review the basics of grammar and pronunciation, so I discussed it with my teacher and asked to focus the lessons mainly on review.
After I had reviewed thoroughly, I began studying for the JLPT N2.
N2 includes many difficult kanji and grammar points, so it was tough—but I did my best.

Outcomes

The biggest achievement for me was passing the JLPT N2!
There were many things I couldn’t fully understand back in university, but now I can understand them well, and I feel much more confident.
Since the lessons are conducted entirely in Japanese, I feel my speaking ability has improved too.
I especially realized this during a recent trip to Japan—being able to communicate with hotel staff and shop clerks made me really happy.

Support and environment

My teacher always taught me patiently and kindly answered all my questions.
Before the exam, I also received emotional support, which helped me stay motivated.
Since the lessons were online, I could take them during my lunch break at work, and it was easy to keep studying even when I was busy.

The challenges of studying Japanese

Remembering knowledge I had once forgotten was harder than I imagined, and there were many times when I felt discouraged.
But I’ve realized that if you keep going without giving up, you’ll definitely improve.

Goal and Comment

Right now, I’m not working in a job that uses Japanese, but I’m planning to change jobs soon to one where I can make use of my Japanese skills.
I want to keep studying and work toward achieving my dream.
If there’s anyone out there who’s unsure about restarting their studies like I was, I’d like to tell them—“It’s never too late.”
